Robert Joseph Stone, known affectionately as Bob, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Greenville, SC, on September 13, 2023. Born on December 31, 1953, Bob was a man of wisdom, intelligence, and intrigue, whose life was marked by a profound love for music and an unwavering commitment to his community.

Bob was a proud graduate of Carolina High School, Class of '72. Following his graduation, he embarked on a successful career at Bell South, where he dedicated 35 years of his life before retiring. His work ethic and dedication were admired by his colleagues and set a high standard for those who followed in his footsteps.

Beyond his professional life, Bob was a man of many talents and interests. He was a published songwriter, whose love for music transcended genres and generations. In his 30s and 40s, he sang in the band Music by Committee, captivating audiences with his soulful voice and charismatic stage presence. His passion for music also led him to attend countless concerts and festivals across the South. One of his most cherished memories was camping with the Allman Brothers Band, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for life.

Bob's love for music was matched only by his love for sports. He played rugby for many years with the Greenville Rugby Club, demonstrating his competitive spirit and camaraderie. His teammates remember him as a dedicated player, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh.

Bob was predeceased by his sister, Linda Moss, and his brother, James A. Stone. Despite the loss of his siblings, Bob remained a beacon of positivity and resilience. His strength in the face of adversity was an inspiration to those who knew him, and his memory will continue to provide comfort and guidance.

Bob was also a regular performer at Cafe and Them Some on several occasions, where he delighted patrons with his musical talents. His performances were a testament to his love for his community and his desire to bring joy to others through his music.

In his later years, Bob continued to inspire those around him with his wisdom and intelligence. He was a man of many interests, always eager to learn and share his knowledge with others. His interesting conversations and insightful observations will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
