Robert Roy Limpitlaw was born in Brooklyn, NY, on 2/22/33 and grew up on Long Island, NY. As a child and young man, he was bold and adventurous. He put himself through college, graduated with the honor of valedictorian from the New York State Maritime College, and also managed to put his younger brother through college. He joined the Navy where he served as a lieutenant, met his wife, and had a family. Roy left the service, entered the private sector, and worked in manufacturing for many years, eventually becoming a vice president of manufacturing for Platt Saco Lowell. An entrepreneur, Roy started his own textile corporation, Protective Plastics, Inc. Knowing that there is more to life than work, Roy retired young and enjoyed his family including two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He spent his retirement traveling and doing considerable Christian service work (as a senior warden and reader at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, participant in Kairos Prison Ministry, and Project Host Soup Kitchen volunteer). During retirement, Roy was also a Toastmaster’s member, Chamber of Commerce member, literacy tutor, Small Business Counsel Mentor, and humble philanthropist. He died at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC on 11/11/19. Roy will be missed by more than he knew. His funeral will be held at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Simpsonville, SC on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 3PM. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church or the McCall Hospice House.
