Robert I. " Bob " Freeborn, husband of Dody Freeborn died Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Born April 4, 1931 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He was the son of the late, Edgar Freeborn and Bessie A. (Cook) Freeborn. Bob worked with the Federal Government for 35 years. After retiring, he and Dody moved to Lake Keowee in South Carolina and enjoyed their life for 30 years. He moved to Rolling Green Village in 2016 and resided there until his death. Bob loved to play tennis, golf, watch the Washington Redskins and Clemson Tigers games, and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his beloved wife Dody, he is survived by his children, Kathy Ault (David), Michael C. Freeborn (Mirian), Robert I. Freeborn, Jr., Cindy Heos, Tom Johnson (Kate), and Chuck Johnson, Jr. (Donna), 11 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Mr. Freeborn was predeceased by his brothers, Edgar Milton Freeborn Jr, and John Freeborn, and his sister Mary Lena Freeborn Myers, daughter in law Carol Smith and son in law Reid Heos, Jr.
The family will receive friends at 12:00 pm at the M.J. “ Dolly ” Cooper Memorial Cemetery on Monday, February 26, 2018. Services will follow immediately at 1:00 at the columbarium.
