Robert “Bob” Hunt passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3rd in Seneca, SC at the age of 89 due to complication of pneumonia. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Hunt. Robert was born on October 9, 1927 in Walhalla, SC to W.J. “Billy” Hunt and Bessie Lee Barton Hunt.
After graduating from Walhalla High School he married Dorothy C. Smith and went on to join the US Navy from 1945-1948 to serve in WWII on board USS Atlanta. Robert also served the US Navy Seabees in Vietnam while working for DuPont at the Savannah River Plant in Aiken, SC. Robert was accomplished at carpentry, mechanics and the instrument/ electrician fields. Robert was a kind and dedicated individual who loved building and repairing things and was passionate about living for the Lord. He was a long time member of the New Ellenton Church of God.
Survivors include a daughter Brenda Chapman (Bo) Kelley, Aiken; two sons, Stephen Hunt, New Ellenton, and David (Kay) Hunt, Mountain Rest, sister Margaret Daniels, Columbia and brother Alton Hunt, Walhalla. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, Melissa Eppig, Chris Chapman, April Windsor, Terry Chapman, Jonathan Hunt, Jessica Schumpert and John Adam Hunt and eleven great grandchildren. Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by a daughter Phyllis Hunt Puckett, two sons, Wade Hunt and Randy Hunt, a brother Bill Hunt, a sister Carrie Hunt, two grandchildren Donna Robinson and Will Hunt, and a son in law Dean Chapman.
A service with full military honors is scheduled for Saturday October 14,2017 at 2:00 pm; MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery located at 140 Inway Dr, Anderson, SC 29621. Pastor Tim Sheriff will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Robert's life.
