Robert Lawton Goethe, a man of spirit and generosity, passed away on November 13, 2024, at the age of 37. Born on December 17, 1986, in Marietta, Georgia, he was a beloved son, brother, and friend. His radiant personality left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Lawton was the cherished son of Chris Goethe and the late Julie Smith Goethe. He grew up in a loving home, surrounded by his brother William Goethe, his stepmother Terri Goethe, and stepbrothers Joshua Hambrick and David Hambrick. He was also a proud grandson to the late William Lawton Smith, Anna Smith, Robert Goethe, and Phyllis Goethe. Robert is survived by his step-grandparents, Allene and Terrell Mitchell.
A graduate of Oakbrook Preparatory School in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Lawton’s academic journey was marked by his enthusiasm, academic prowess and leadership. He later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Entrepreneurship from Samford University.
Those who knew Lawton would describe him as a vibrant presence who could fill any room with energy. He had a unique ability to push the limits of fun, making those around him frequently roll on the floor with laughter. His spirited approach to life was contagious, inspiring others to live fully and love deeply.
Lawton’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and song. It lives on in the countless lives he touched and the memories he created through his joyful presence. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to uplift us.
As we say goodbye to Lawton, we celebrate the life of a man who was truly one of a kind. While his journey on earth may have ended, his story will be told for generations to come— a story of a man with an unquenchable zest for life.
