Robert Brooks

d. December 15, 2015

Bob took his first big breath in years Tuesday morning when he transitioned from life on earth to his Heavenly home.  With the kind and loving help of Dr. Wayne Hollinger, he fought an incredibly hard battle against COPD/emphysema for 20 years. On Dec.15,2015, the disease won. His daughters, Beth Alexoff, Susie Felt and Jennifer Webb were with him along with his wife, Ann and that is exactly how he wanted it. He was surrounded by love in his own home with his beloved standard poodle Chloe at his feet.

Robert Arnold Brooks was born April 5,1935 in Weirton, WV to the late Arnold and Frances Sweet Brooks.  He has one brother, James Allan Brooks and his wife, Nancy, New Castle, PA.

Few people appreciate their families as much as Bob did.  It wasn't just his daughters but he told everyone how lucky he was to get such great sons in law; Randy Alexoff, David Felt and Brad Webb.  And then came the miracle of grandchildren, and life was perfect; They are Ashley Alexoff Cochren and her husband, Chris, Denver, Co., Katelynn Alexoff and her fiance Chris Vorwald, Cincinatti, Oh, Brooks Felt and wife, Erin, Marshville, NC, Tyler Felt, Griffin Webb and Charlie Webb of Greenville, SC. Brooks and Erin blessed him with his great granddaughter, Harper Claire Felt.

Bob studied at both Carnegie Melon and Youngstown State University, graduating as an industrial engineer.  He married his one true love, Ann Richards of New Castle, on January 24, 1959.  He worked for the same steel castings company in the midwest for 31 years before retiring to Greenville where he opened an I Can't Believe It's Yogurt store with his wife.

A memorial service will be held at Advent United Methodist Church,  2258 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, SC 29681 at 11:00 Friday morning.  Friends will be received by the family an hour before the service in the church narthex.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to his church who wrapped him and his family in so much love and support.
