Robert E. Bridges, a cherished family man, a friend to many, and a lifelong resident of South Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024, in Simpsonville, SC. Born on March 14, 1950, in Greenville, SC, Robert's life was a testament to his love for Jesus and family, his sense of humor, and the simple joy of working with his hands.
Known affectionately as Rob, his legacy lives on through his cherished family. He is survived by his devoted mother, Dellie Ramey Bridges; his siblings, Tommy (Rhonda) Bridges, Sharon (John) Patton, Don (Kay) Bridges and Roger (Joyce) Bridges; his adored granddaughter, Destiny Bridges; his "chosen son," Arnold Crump; his nephews, Thomas E. (Telma) Bridges, T.J. (Sierra) Bridges, and Thomas D. Bridges; his nieces, Tori (Kenny) Catalano, Starr (Chad) Crocker, and Brooke (Caleb) Murphy; and his fourteen great-nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas R. Bridges, his daughter, Katisha Bridges, and his sister-in-law, Darlene Bridges.
Rob loved Christian movies and music which spoke to his deep and abiding faith. His relationship with Jesus was the cornerstone of his existence guiding him through life's challenges and triumphs with grace and gratitude. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share, the work we do with our hands, and the moments we spend loving our family. Rob will be deeply missed, but the impact of his life's journey will be felt for generations to come. As we reflect on his time with us, we are reminded of the joy that can be found in a life well-lived, a life full of faith, humor, and the warmth of human connection. A special thank you to Gladys Ramey, Helen Coleman Keith, and Shirley Edwards for their constant support and transportation through the years. A sincere thank you to the CCU Staff at St. Francis Downtown and McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC for their wonderful care in his last weeks. A visitation will be held at Westville Funeral Home, 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611 on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 11:00 am-12:30 pm. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Samaritans Purse.
