Robert Winston Albright died unexpectedly at home on Friday April 3, 2015. Born April 16, 1943 in Rockford, Illinois, Bob was the son of the late Anita Hennig Albright and John Robert Albright.
Bob graduated from Athens (GA) High School in 1961 and in 1966 from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Mecanical Engineering where he was a member of the Pi Tau Sigma Honor Society and Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He received a MBA from the State University of New York, Albany. He was a Professional Engineer in New York and South Carolina and held several patents.
After college Bob served in the US Navy with one tour of duty in Vietnam with the Seabees. He then worked with General Electric as a design and lead engineer in Schenectady, NY and Greenville SC. He later joined Daniel Construction/Fluor Daniel as a project manager; the highlight of that time was supervising construction of the Peace Center for the Performing Arts.
Bob was an active member of Fourth Presbyterian Church for many years, serving as both a Deacon and Elder and volunteered with various community organizations including the Center for Developmental Services, Habitat for Humanity, Sterling, and United Ministries.
Bob is survived by his wife Linda Eleanor Newman Albright; his sister Margaret Albright Urquhart (Thomas) of Gilory, CA; his brother John William Albright (Lee) of Athens, GA; his brother-in- law and sister-in-law Earle and Belynda Newman of Manhattan Beach, CA; and his nieces and nephews: JoAlyce and Jerome Meyer, Jeff and Mandy Urquhart, Cullen and Patrick O’Steen, John and Kristine Albright, Marissa Newman, and Jason Newman.
A memorial service to the glory of God and in celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Fourth Presbyterian Church, 703 E. Washington St, Greenville, SC 29601 Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 11:00. Family will receive friends at the church in the Allen Graham Fellowship Hall at 10:00.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mamie Jolley Bruce Building Endowment, Fourth Presbyterian Church. Cremation Society of South Carolina
