Rickie Curtis Wooten, lovingly known as Ricky, passed away peacefully on
November 17, 2023, Landrum, South Carolina. Born on November 14, 1958,
in Greenville, South Carolina, Ricky was a cherished son to Larry and Ola
Mae Wooten. Throughout his life, Ricky was a beacon of laughter, adventure,
and practicality, and he will be dearly missed by his beloved family and
friends.
Ricky was a proud father to his sons, Ricky C Wooten, Jr. and Justin Wooten,
and his daughter, Jennifer Wooten. He was also a cherished uncle to his
nephews, Tim and Jason Wooten. Each of them inherited Ricky's unique
blend of humor, adventurous spirit, and practical skills. His family was his
greatest joy and pride, and he was always there to lend a helping hand, share
a hearty laugh, or embark on a new adventure.
Ricky’s education culminated at high school, where his knack for practical
skills and problem-solving began to shine. His career as a Master Electrician
was a testament to his technical prowess and work ethic. Ricky also served
his community by working for the highway department, ensuring the safety
and functionality of the roads that connected his beloved hometown.
One of Ricky's greatest passions was racing. He raced at Greenville Pickens
Speedway, where his adventurous spirit truly came to life. He loved the thrill of
the race, the camaraderie of his fellow racers, and the roar of the crowd. His
love for speed and adventure also extended to his love for Harley Davidson
Motorcycles. Whether on the track or on the open road, Ricky was truly in his
element.
In quieter moments, Ricky found joy in music, particularly through his love for
guitars. He was a skilled player, and his music often filled the home with
warmth and joy. But above all else, Ricky’s love for his family was paramount.
He was a dedicated father, a loving son, and a fun-loving uncle. His family
was his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Ricky was a man of many talents, but he will be remembered most for his
infectious humor, his adventurous spirit, and his practical, handy nature. He
was the kind of man who could fix anything, tell a joke to lighten any mood,
and take on any adventure with a gleam in his eye. His laughter, wisdom, and
love will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
In his 65 years, Ricky lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. His spirit
lives on in his children, his nephews, and all those who had the privilege of
knowing him. As we remember Ricky, we celebrate a life well lived, a man
well-loved, and a spirit that will forever inspire us to live fully, love deeply, and
laugh heartily.
Rest in peace, Rickie Curtis Wooten. Your memory will forever be a source of
joy, inspiration, and love for all those you have left behind. You will be missed,
but your legacy will live on in the stories we share, the laughter we remember,
and the love we hold in our hearts.
