Richard Smalley, age 76, passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2022. Rick was born in Uniontown PA, on May 3rd, 1945. He was pre-deceased by his parents Russell and Cecelia Smalley, one brother, Jack Murphy, and one sister Penny Vall. Richard was the youngest of 5 children and was loved by his family. He was a graduate of North Union High School in 1963. Rick was known to be a jokester who loved to laugh and be silly. He was a hard worker and dedicated many years of his life to Volkswagen Automotive before moving and starting new endeavors. Richard was a loving father to 4 daughters whom he cherished. Rick began attending church in 1998 and has dedicated his life to the Lord. He was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church where he loved to attend Sunday school and learn more about his Savior. Rick was married to Christina Smalley in 1992 and they passed away just one day apart. With a love for cars, games, and the three stooges there was never a dull moment with Rick around.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Beth Castro (Felix), Carolyn Konas (Marc), Christina Ballard (Rob), Lacy Halstead (Jesse); grandchildren, Mitchell Ballard, Evan Konas, Nola Halstead; brothers, Russell Smalley (Linda), Robert Smalley. Rick was also survived by his father and mother-in-law, 5 brothers-in-law, and many loved nieces and nephews.
A service will be held for Richard on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at Venture Church (128 Pendleton Street, Easley SC 29640). A visitation will be held at 10 am with a service to follow at 11 am. The service will be held for both Richard and Christina Smalley. We will celebrate the wonderful life of this couple and the impact they made in this world.
