Richard Bruce Gilreath

Richard Bruce Gilreath, known by all as Bruce, of Fountain Inn, SC, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Prisma Health Hospice Care.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late James W. “Jay”Gilreath and Dana W. Gilreath. Bruce graduated from the University of South Carolina, received a Master’s degree in Education from Furman, and a Specialist degree from Jacksonville University. After 26 years, he retired as a Special Education teacher from the Greenville County School System. Traveling the world extensively was a passion. This led to a second career of exhibiting textiles and jewelry at arts and crafts festivals throughout the southeastern United States.
He is survived by Martha Rittgers (Rex) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Gena Cox (Thomas) of Summerville, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews. He, also, leaves behind his longtime love of 43 years, Jennifer Rivers, plus his beloved pets: River, Izzy, and Charlie.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Hanks and a niece, Morgan Rittgers.
