Richard "Dick" Davis

August 17, 1942 — May 21, 2017

Richard “Dick” Davis finished his race on this earth late Saturday night at his home in Fountain Inn, SC. He fought a good fight and he kept the faith. He loved the Lord and his family. Dick was born August 17, 1942 in Dunbar West Virginia. He was raised in Ohio and then moved his family to South Carolina in 1985. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Gale and Verna Davis and his 1st wife Sandra Davis.
Dick was survived by his loving wife of 5 years, Sharon Braun Davis and his brother Jim Davis (Sandy) and their four children. Dick was also survived by his seven sons:  Rich (Kristal) and grandchildren Nathan, Joshua, Caleb, Abigail, and Sarah; Brad (Eva) and grandchildren Sierra, Jeremiah, and Allison and six great-grandchildren; Matt (Jennifer) and grandchildren Blaire and Levi; Shawn (Wendy) and grandchildren Christopher, David, Elizabeth, Daniel, Stephen, Timothy, Hannah, and Sarah Catherine; A.J. (Myra) and grandchildren Maguire and Macey; Lincoln (Deanielle); Ryan (Avery) and grandchildren AvLynne, Rutledge, and Barrett; and “adopted” son Joel Richards.
Dick’s pride and joy was his family. Everyone knew about his seven sons and how many grandchildren he had. When he remarried, Sharon’s children and grandchildren became his own. His family meant everything to him. He taught his sons how to love their wives and children by example. He also taught them to look for the silver linings in the darkest clouds. Being an eternal optimist, he always saw his glass as half full even when others thought it was empty. He left his worries to God and laughter surrounded him. Dick made the best out of all situations, even to the end.
Every room was made brighter by his presence and we will miss his BIG smile and expressive eyes and funny stories. But friends, we have an assurance that goes beyond our grief and a steadfast faith that we will be joined together in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
“For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”   II Timothy 4:6-8
