Reinhold “Rein” H. Schaefer, 72, of Easley, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 6, 2022. He was born on September 25, 1949 in Olenhusen, Germany to the late Horst and Annaliese Schaefer. Rein was an US Air Force Veteran, serving over 20 years. He loved fishing, hunting, and driving around in his truck.
Reinhold was a very wise and honest soul. True blue to the uniform he wore for many years and to all whom he encountered throughout his life, he was an exceptionally kind and giving man. He rose to the heights of any challenge in his military career with utmost respect to all. He loved his family and also had a deep love for nature. He will be very missed, and eventhough he is no longer on this Earth, he will be with us in heart and spirit.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Schaefer.
He leaves behind many family and friends that will miss him and remember him fondly, including his loving wife of 49 years, Doris Hembree Schaefer; son, Jason Schaefer; daughter, Kristina Saxon; grandchildren, Kami, Kassie, Jason, and Zackery; great grandchildren, Johnny and King; siblings,
Doris Schaefer of Scottsdale AZ, Linda Carter, Susan Wollschlager and Horst "Vern" Schaefer all of Necedah WI. and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, February 10 in the chapel of Westville Funerals. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the funeral.
A Committal Service with Full Military Honors will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, February 25 at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson.
