Reeda Rowene Coulter

June 20, 1928 — September 24, 2023

Reeda Rowene (Kline) Coulter, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 24, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born June 20, 1928 in Dubois, Pennsylvania. She was the third daughter of Elizabeth Bell Deets and Reed Rolof Kline. When her father died unexpectedly before her birth, she was named Reeda in his honor. Of this, she was very proud and always shared its special meaning. Reeda was a very bright, precocious young woman. In 1946 she was named valedictorian of Conneaut Lake High School. Feeling "non-plussed" by this distinction, she wryly suggested they give it to the next girl because she had tried much harder! After graduation, she was offered a job as a telephone operator for Bell Atlantic and later AT&T. During her 30-year career, she would go from "plugging in calls on the board" to mastering computers in the Pittsburgh AT&T high rise. Reeda was a valued and loyal employee, earning many accolades from her supervisors and peers.

Reeda is survived by three of her four children. Douglas Kline Coulter (Kelli), Pamela Leigh Wilhelm-Bobo (Paul), and 16 years later, at age 42, a second daughter, Melissa Coulter Latham. According to her, there was never a dull moment! She would spend her retirement living at Port Shoals Marina on Lake Hartwell, South Carolina. This would be the most peaceful and enjoyable time of her life. She loved sitting on the back porch and hosting sleepovers for her youngest grandchildren. Time spent with "Reedie" was always special! Popcorn, root beer, and trips for penny candy made great memories for Spalding, Lizzie, and Mary-Kline Latham. Reeda shared a close relationship with a very special gentleman, Bill Merriman. Sadly, he passed away far too soon, stunting their plan to travel the world and gamble. During their 10 years together, they shared a love for playing cards, good Italian food, playing practical jokes, and working crossword puzzles.

Reeda is pre-deceased by her three sisters, Marion Sloan, Ruth Hilliard, and Ruby Ruhling, her eldest child, Paul William Coulter, Jr., grandchildren Stosh Dwayne Coulter, Paul O'Neil Bobo Jr., great granddaughter Kaitlin Marie Stewart and her lifelong best friend, Helen Osborn. Reeda leaves behind eight grandchildren, Matt Humphries, Shawn Coulter (Jennifer), Casey-Jo Hart (Danny), Derick Coulter, Jennifer Dowis (Darian), Spalding Latham, Lizzie Latham and Mary-Kline Latham. Seventeen great-grandchildren and two precious great- great-granddaughters, Bayley and Freya Coulter. The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Memory Care, Traditions Hospice, and special friend and caregiver, Amelia Sullivan for their loving care.

The Cremation Society of Greenville is assisting the family with arrangements. A funeral
service and celebration of life will be held on November 18th, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Rafka Maronite Catholic Church, Greer South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local animal shelter or food bank. The
families are at their respective homes. Reeda will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
