Becky "Granny" Sutphin Siau.
Rebecca Ann Sutphin Siau, affectionately known to many of her family and friends as “Granny,” passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, July 24, 2016. She was born on August 13, 1943 in Spartanburg to John W. and Mearle J. Sutphin.
Granny was loved by all because of the gift God gave her in helping others and being there when needed by her friends, family, and loved ones. She never met a stranger as she proved countless times by taking in people who were down on their luck or just needed a helping hand. She faithfully practiced our Lord’s second greatest commandment, to “… love your neighbor as yourself.”
Granny was preceded from this world by her parents. She leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, Charles (Chuck) W. Siau of Easley; two wonderful sons, Wesley Siau of Easley, and Paul (Lisa) Siau of Lucedale, MS; a faithful, loving daughter, Dawn “Lace” Gwinn of Greenville; a much-loved brother, Philip (Kathy) Sutphin of Westfield, NC; a granddaughter and best friend Rebecca “Becca” Whitmire of Clemson; an adoring grandson, David-Paul Siau of Lucedale, MS; a nephew, Jonathan (Melissa) Sutphin along with their daughters Taylor and Reegan; and a niece, Sarah (Isaac) Norman along with their sonsCurtis and Judah. She also leaves behind step-grandchildren Misty and Jason along with many more “adopted” children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that she claimed as her own.
A memorial service will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday July 28th in the social hall of Rockvale Baptist Church, 653 Old Grove Rd, Piedmont, SC 29673. The family will meet friends, neighbors, and loved ones at this time. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorialdonations to Rockvale Baptist Church.
