Rebecca Ann Solesbee Arms, 77 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023 from complications related to cancer at Regional Hospice House in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is survived by two siblings: J.W. Solesbee (Jean) and Marlene Pittman; along with her two grandsons: David Center (Shannon) and Derek Center (Kristen). She was preceded in death by her siblings: Sammy Solesbee and Margie Oliver; her husband, Tate Center; and her daughter, Emily Center.
She herself said that she had three names in her life: “Rebecca, Becky, and Granny”. “Rebecca” was a girl born with a go-getter attitude and had an “anything is possible”outlook on life. “Becky” was a charismatic entrepreneur with a mind for business. She was an iconic cafe owner and matriarch who fed and cared for her community. She embodied the true meaning of “salt of the earth” and was always there to lend a helping hand. Finally, our “Granny” was one of a kind. She had true grit and was easily one of the best people you’ll ever meet. She instilled her values into her daughter and grandchildren and raised them to be hard workers that stand strong in their principals, have a generous spirit, and know how to catch a fish.
Granny had a story about everyone and never knew a stranger. She had an effect on everyone she met and will not soon be forgotten. Granny will be fiercely missed by her friends, family, and community.
She will be buried at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life gathering at Granny’s home on Saturday, February 18th 2023 from 2-5PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: American Cancer Society Donate Today | The American Cancer Society
