Rev. Ray Ridgeway, Jr, 73 of Anderson, SC moved to his eternal home on July 23, 2017. Son of the late Ray Ridgeway and nurturers: Sallie B. Ridgeway, grandmother and Mary McCuen, aunt.
Ray was a graduate of Palmetto High School, the University of South Carolina, and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. For 35 years he pastored churches in KY, TN, and SC. He served the last 13 years as a hospice chaplain in SC. Additionally, he had a passion for the people of Russia and made 26 mission trips there teaching pastoral students and volunteering in orphanages and church planting. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley, SC and a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Judy Norman Ridgeway; daughter, Amy (Patrick) Cromer of Anderson; son, Michael (Mary Ann) Ridgeway of Chapin, SC; five grandchildren, Drew and Merritt Cromer and Jordan, Nathan, and Gracie Ridgeway; sister, Phyllis (David) Boykin of Anderson.
Services will be in the old sanctuary of Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs Rd, Easley, SC 29642 Sunday, July 30th at 3:00 pm. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 pm before the service at the church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clear Springs Baptist Church, 7350 Tazewell Pike, Corryton, TN 37721.
