Phyllis Collins Youngblood, affectionately known as Phyllis to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, in Easley, South Carolina. Born on February 7, 1942, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, to the late Glenn Luther Collins and Hazel Marie Collins, Phyllis grew up to be a remarkable woman whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of many.
Phyllis was a proud graduate of Catonsville High School, class of 1960, and she carried the diligence and spirit of her youth throughout her life. She dedicated many years to serving her country as a federal government employee, where she worked as an analyst for the National Security Agency. Her career was marked by her exceptional intelligence and commitment, which led her to serve in various locations across Asia and Eastern Europe. Phyllis's work was not just a job; it was a calling that she fulfilled with passion and excellence.
Throughout her life, Phyllis was known for her loving nature, her thoughtful demeanor, and her generous spirit. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as sewing, which she approached with the same precision and care that characterized her professional work. Phyllis was also an avid thrifter and flea market enthusiast, always on the lookout for treasures that she could share with others. Traveling was another of her interests, and she cherished the opportunities to explore new places and create lasting memories with her loved ones.
Family was the cornerstone of Phyllis's life. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Jennifer Tubiolo, and mother-in-law to Adam. Her grandchildren, Jarrod Klarhan, Christian Tubiolo, and Jordan Moss (Jon), along with her great-grandchildren, Jaxon Moss, Jasper Moss, and Juniper Moss, brought immense joy and pride to her life. Phyllis's caring presence and unwavering support were the foundation upon which her family built their lives. She was predeceased by her beloved husband (the love of her life), Leland Youngblood, but the love they shared continues to inspire their family.
Phyllis's presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her legacy is one of love, service, and kindness. As we remember Phyllis, we celebrate the life of a woman who was truly the heart of her family and a friend to all. Her influence will continue to be felt through the values she instilled in her family and the countless lives she enriched with her compassionate soul.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Phyllis Collins Youngblood will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will be cherished forever by those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say farewell to this extraordinary woman, we take solace in knowing that her spirit lives on through the love and kindness she spread throughout her remarkable journey.
