Phyllis Ann Barry

Phyllis Ann Barry, 82, of Greer, SC died peacefully at a nursing care facility in Greenville on March 7, 2021. She was born March 15, 1938, in Quincy, MA. Phyllis graduated from Archbishop Williams High School Class of 1955 in Braintree, MA.

She went on to become a Registered Dental Hygienist from Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene, in affiliation with Tufts University in Boston, MA. She worked as a hygienist in Massachusetts, South Carolina, and Georgia. She retired in 2004 from The Medical College of Georgia.

Phyllis is survived by her children: Greg (Maryn) Canniff, Liz (Mitch) Harvey, Jane Canniff, David (Leslie) Canniff, Suzan Platte; grandchildren Laura Farris, Jessica Canniff, Catherine Harvey, Ellen Canniff, Joshua Harvey, Morgan (Mikel) Waldrop, Margaret Canniff, Sofia Platte, Vivian Platte; great-grandson Harrison Waldrop.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Mary Barry and siblings Richard Barry, Elizabeth Barry, Judith Barry, and Dave Barry.

Phyllis loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson Harrison. She was an avid gardener and grew organic vegetables. She stayed active with Curves workouts, hiking, kayaking, biking, and travel. Phyllis loved singing Irish-American music, as well as folk, blues, and Louis Armstrong. In addition to her family, Phyllis leaves behind many dear friends and neighbors, especially the staff and residents of Haywood Estates in Greenville, SC.

A private service will be held at Hunting Island State Park.
