Phillip "Phil" Everett Barton

January 13, 1952 — July 6, 2022

Phillip “Phil” Everett Barton, 70, of Taylors, passed away at home on July 6, 2022. A native of Taylors, he was the son of the late Ralph Vanoy and Hattie Louise Grice Barton. Phil was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and a member of Taylors First Baptist Church. As a respected licensed architect of Greenville, Phil spent his professional career working with various local firms including Daniel (now Fluor Daniel), JE Sirrine Company, Pazdan Smith Architects and Day and Zimmerman. Phil was also an instructor at Greenville Technical College and past President of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). With a pencil and cardstock he could create anything. When not designing or creating, he enjoyed playing guitar and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Everett Barton, Jr. and sister-in-law, Linda Cunningham Barton.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Debbie Raines Barton; daughters, Ashley (Jason) Barton Franciscus and Eleanor Elizabeth Anne Barton; brother, Vanoy “Veto” Barton; niece Pam Davis; many nephews and cousins and his beloved cat, Oreo.

A memorial service will take place on July 24th, 2022 at 3PM in the Taylors First Baptist Church chapel. Friends and Family are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to support local efforts, through memorial donations, to the Greenville Childrens Museum.
