Philip Allen Lusk, 83 of Simpsonville, South Carolina, passed peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 15, 2018. Philip was born to the late Lloyd and Bessie (Boughton) Lusk in Sand Springs, Oklahoma on July 9, 1935. His wife of 37 years, Barbara (Cheney) Lusk still resides at the home.
Phil was a Navy Seal, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the York Rite, and a member of the American Legion Post 3. He had a love for deep sea diving and made a career out of it. After completing his training as a Navy Seal, Phil received advanced and specialized training as a first class diver and master diver. He continued his deep sea underwater diving career working up and down the U.S. coast on various bridges, pipelines, and power plants. Philip had an intense passion for genealogy and enjoyed assisting others learning about the history of their families. Phil was an active member of the Simpsonville Senior Center volunteering in calling bingo, teaching genealogy classes, and making new friends. In his later years, he was a carpenter and enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Simpsonville, Loving Hearts Sunday School class, and the Joy Fellowship.
Phillip is also survived by his three daughters Cheryl Williams of Pasadena, TX, Sharell Bunnell (Butch Masarik) of Wilmington, DE, Teri Longley (Rick) of California, MO and his son Philip Erickson of Burnsville, MI. He is survived by his sister, Pat Lusk Butler (Jimmy) of Sand Springs, OK. He also had nine grandchildren Matt, Tenisha, Jason, Audria, Jeffrey, Vicki, and Takoda and eight great- grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Hazel Lusk Cole and his grandsons Ryan Courter and Gunnar Erickson. He will be greatly missed by his faithful and loyal dog, Dusty.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Simpsonville on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 3:00 p.m.
