Peggy Free Rogers

February 26, 1941 — July 25, 2024

Greenville, SC

Peggy Free Rogers, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away on July 25, 2024, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born on February 26, 1941, in Greenville, SC, Peggy's life was a testament to the power of unwavering affection and the joy of simple pleasures.

Peggy's journey began as the cherished daughter of a Greenville family, where she learned the values of kinship and kindness that would define her life. She blossomed into a woman of strength and character, traits that served her well as a devoted homemaker. Peggy's heart found its match in Paul Kenneth Rogers, and together they built a life rich with love and laughter. Though Paul, along with their children Mary Frances, Doug, and Billy, preceded her in death, the legacy of their shared happiness endures. Peggy is also predeceased by her two sisters, Elizabeth Rowland and Ruby Richardson.

Survived by her son John Rogers and his wife Jennifer, and her daughter-in-law Tammy Rogers, Peggy's spirit lives on through her loving family. Her sister Charlotte Roberson and niece Debbie Roberts (Glen) held special places in her heart, as did her nephew James (Wanda) Rowland, whom she loved like a son. Peggy's joy was multiplied by her grandchildren, Brittany (Brantley) Fowler, Kassidy, Khloe, Jacob, Josh, and Jason Rogers, and her great-grandchild, Hannah Grace Fowler.

Peggy's love for music was the soundtrack of her life, often heard during family trips to the lake and camping adventures. These outings were not just pastimes but a means of nurturing the bonds with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure. Peggy's pets, too, were recipients of her boundless affection, and they, in turn, provided her with comfort and companionship.

Peggy's love of food remained a constant joy throughout her life. Whether she craved a milkshake or a hamburger steak, her family would eagerly fulfill her wishes, a small token of their immense love for her. Her close relationship with her sister Charlotte and her niece Debbie was built on countless shared meals and moments of togetherness.

As we bid farewell to Peggy Free Rogers, we celebrate a life lived with an open heart and a generous spirit. She was a loving mother, a cherished sister, a doting grandmother, and a treasured friend. Peggy's memory will be held dear, not only in the milestones she marked but in the countless everyday moments that she made special with her presence.

Her laughter, her courage, and her love have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Peggy's story does not end with her passing but continues in the lives of those she touched. She will be deeply missed, but the warmth of her love will continue to comfort and guide us, as bright and enduring as the legacy she leaves behind.
