Paul Duncan Walukewicz

Paul Duncan Walukewicz passed away at home on March 5, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He died peacefully surrounded by family and his dogs and cats.
Paul was born on December 13, 1948 in Jamaica, New York to Walter and Garnette (Sue) Walukewicz. In his youth Paul was very active in Scouting. He earned the Ad Altare Dei award, Order of the Arrow as well as Eagle award. He was selected to participate in the BSA exhibit at the 1964 New York’s World Fair. Paul started at Clemson University but left prior to graduation to voluntarily join the Army. He served with the Army Security Agency during the Vietnam Conflict. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in connection with military operations against a hostile force. He served from May 1970 to February 1971. After his returned from Vietnam he graduated with honors from North Carolina State University.
Paul is survived by his wife, Nicole, children: Stefanie Walukewicz McCloskey and husband Brad , Arielle Salley and husband Samuel Dominguez and Jared Salley, grandchildren: Olivia McCloskey, Ian McCloskey, Odette Dominguez, and Arius Salley, as well as his parents and sisters: Christine Walukewicz and Victoria W. Murphy, niece and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dogs: Buddy and Sabine and his cats: Tip, Viggo, and Festus.
A funeral mass will be said on March 19, 2016 at 11:00 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gaffney, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USO ( www.uso.org/Donate ). Paul had fond memories of USO shows during his tours of duty in Vietnam.
In life, Paul enjoyed his family, music, dancing, and animals. He and Nicole helped develop the Palmetto Equine Awareness and Rescue League and participated in the rescue and rehabilitation of many horses. Paul also shared his love for math with many friends who had problems with algebra, calculus, and/or physics. All he mentored successfully passed their courses. He inspired his family and friends to be the best person they could be and to follow their dreams. He will be missed by many.
