Patricia Lorene Sams, affectionately known as Lorraine to her friends and family, passed away on February 12, 2025, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 83. Born on October 5, 1941, in Ware Shoals, SC, Lorraine was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her.

Lorraine's life was marked by her spirited and passionate nature, which she brought into every space she entered. Her laughter was infectious, and her interest in the South Carolina Gamecocks, music, and movies kept her young at heart and connected her with a diverse community of friends and family.

For many years, Lorraine was a dedicated employee at Christ Church Episcopal, where she formed lasting relationships and contributed significantly to the community. Her work ethic and commitment to service were evident in all her endeavors, and she will be remembered for her generous spirit and unwavering dedication.

Lorraine was a matriarch in the truest sense, surrounded by a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Sams, her mother, Minnie Lee Griffin, her father, James Clinton Chapman, her brothers, Ronny Davis and Mike Chapman, and her daughters, Patricia Medford and Donna Farmer. Her legacy continues through her surviving siblings, Jean Bayne and Danny Chapman, her children, Don Farmer, Tim Sams, Denise Hall, and Ricky Sams as well as her many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Described by those who knew her as interesting, Lorraine's life was a tapestry of stories and experiences that she shared generously. Her passion for life was evident in the way she engaged with the world, always eager to learn something new or to share a piece of wisdom.

Lorraine's journey through life was a testament to her resilience and strength. She faced challenges with grace and emerged with an even greater zest for life. Her presence was a comfort and her guidance a compass for many who sought her counsel.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 2-4 PM at the Cremation Society of SC - Westville Funerals, 6010 White Horse Rd, Greenville, SC 29611.
