Patricia Ann Eikmeier

March 10, 1951 — April 17, 2016

Patricia Ann Eikmeier, 65, died on Sunday, April 17, 2016 after a battle with cancer. From her birth on March 10, 1951 until her death, Patricia lived a life characterized by love and generosity. Born in Plainwell, MI to Elbert William Herbert and Lillie May (Kirk) Herbert, Patricia was one of seven siblings. She graduated from Parchment High School in Parchment, MI and would go on to have three children in the course of her life. Throughout her life, Patricia’s love of learning would lead her through a wide variety of interests, including foreign languages, teaching, art, music, and ministry. In her last years, Patricia pursued a degree in ministry from Covington Theological Seminary and was actively involved in church ministry to the elderly and disabled.

Patricia’s beautiful spirit is what attracted Robert James Eikmeier of Kalamazoo, MI, who would become her husband. Together, they raised three children – Shawn Kitchen of Inman, SC, Somer Oberlin of Weaverville, NC, and Crystal Alday of Kalamazoo, MI. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Heather Kitchen, two sons-in-law, Matt Oberlin and Joshua Alday, ten grandchildren, three sisters, and two brothers as well. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Patricia will be remembered by those who knew her as a warm, loving, and generous woman who was a true and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. Her legacy is one of devotion and certitude, and she will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Patricia's South Carolina memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 24 at 2:00pm. It will be at Knighton Chapel Wesleyan Church, 2122 Knighton Chapel Rd., Fountain Inn, SC 29644. There will be a memorial service held in Michigan at a later date for those friends and family to attend. In lieu of flowers, Patricia requested that a donation be made to the American Cancer Society to aid in pancreatic cancer research.
