Pamela Blaha Coppes

d. October 26, 2015

Pamela (Pam) Blaha Coppes passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015, at the age of 61. Family and friends surrounded her at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum, SC. Having moved often as a child, Pam called three cities home: Orlando where she first married and started her family; Spartanburg where she lived the longest; and Atlanta where she graduated from the Atlanta School of Massage. She was active in her practice at Upstate Muscular Therapy with her partner, Linda Pearson, for over 21 years until the cancer diagnosis in late February, 2015.

Pam is best known for her disarming wit, gracious smile and welcoming presence. She touched so many lives and says she was always made better by her interactions with others. It was her fervent desire to empower others, see potential and the best in all creatures and enjoy life to its fullest which made her life meaningful. If you crossed paths with Pamela, you certainly knew you had met an extraordinary person.

Surviving Pam are her husband of 21 years, Jeff Coppes; children, Paul Blaha (Michelle) and Heather Therien (John) and Andy Coppes; her grandchildren, Bevan and Noel Therien; and her siblings, Debbie Medford (David), Marcia Husband and W.Wayne Husband (Tina). Pam's extended family included several nieces and nephews and her “family of choice” is wide and deep and you know who you are.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at 2:00pm at West Main Artists Co-op, 578 West Main St, Spartanburg, SC. Please direct any inquiries to Sheryl Monahan at (c) 864.612.5783. All are welcome and encouraged to share stories, support one another and meet those who loved and were loved by Pam.

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with

us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares. see, Henri J.M.Nouwen, Out of Solitude: Three Meditations on the Christian Life
