Nellie Sue Davis, 84, of Greenville, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, South Carolina following an illness. Nellie Sue was born on October 21, 1932 in Anderson, South Carolina to her parents, George Ansel Davis and Ruby Florie
( Crawford ) Davis, she lived in the upstate for most of her life and she worked as a spinning technician in the textile industry where she worked at the Cone Mills Corporation at the American Spinning Mill in Greenville. She retired in 1990 after 40 plus years of service. As a young lady she enjoyed bowling and cooking. Her family will fondly remember enjoying her Fried Chicken, Homemade Biscuits and Chicken and Dumplings. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Nellie Sue is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George A. Davis; her sister, Margaret Drake; her brother, Ralph Davis and her great grandson, Joshua Bishop. Those who will most treasure her memory are her daughter, Belinda Sue Reynolds of Greenville, South Carolina; her sons, Jack A. Davis ( Kay ) of Dacusville, South Carolina and Tommy Davis of Greenville, South Carolina; her sister, Patsy Lanning ( Tommy ) of Piedmont, South Carolina; her brother, George A. “ Beefie “ Davis, Jr. ( Margaret ) of Anderson, South Carolina; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Nellie Sue is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and members of her extended family.
Services to remember and honor Nellie Sue’s life will be at 12:00 P.M. Friday, July 28, 2017 in the Chapel of Westville Funerals on White Horse Road in Greenville. Officiating will be Reverend Lawrence Keever. The family will gather with friends at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow services at Greenville Memorial Gardens in Piedmont where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
