Nathan Wade Bishop

January 15, 1930 — June 6, 2018

On June 6th of 2018 Nathan Wade Bishop passed away from natural causes at his home for the last five years in Greer, South Carolina. He was born in Spartanburg, SC and a resident of Spartanburg and it’s surrounding communities for most of the Eighty-eight years he inhabited this world.

He completed his secondary education in Spartanburg and was an Army veteran dedicating two years of his life to that service in the 1950’s. He was raised on a farm in his early years until the age of fifteen. His primary occupation as an adult was as a welder on a variety of projects to include the containment tanks on one of the first nuclear reactor plants constructed in this country. He retired from that occupation in his 60’s and spent the remainder of his time with a variety of small-business ventures and his extensive family.

He was one of seven children, four brothers and two sisters, and the last surviving member of that family. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Juanita Bishop, and two of his three children and two of his five step-children and more than 20 grandchildren. He was a humble, caring and generous man who devoted his life to supporting and raising his children and grandchildren. He gave everything to his family and considered them his greatest achievement. He will be missed.

A memorial service was held for him on June 18th and further services may be forthcoming at a date yet to be determined. No donations or flowers will be received at this time.
