Nancy Hawkins Willis

Nancy (Nannie Mae) Hawkins Willis passed away Friday morning at Greenville Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. Nancy was 85 years old, a life long resident of the Pleasant Grove community and she had been a lifelong member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Nancy was the widow of Bobby Charles Willis, Sr., who served proudly in the United States Navy and gave his life for his country in 1952. She was the daughter of the late James Bonnard Hawkins Sr. and Carrie Mae Bridwell Hawkins. She was predeceased by brothers, James Bonnard Hawkins, Jr (Bobbie Carolyn Wood), Charles Hugh Hawkins(Hisako Fujimoto), and sisters, Nell Hawkins Mullinanx (Gordan Mullinax) Joyce Hawkins Hall (Robert Hall) Gail Hawkins Steadman(William Steadman).

She is survived by her only child, Bobby Charles Willis, Jr and nieces and nephews.

To all who knew her, "Aunt" Nancy lived by the verse “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!” Nehemiah 8:10

Her joy was "giving" whether it be laughter, smiles, hugs or a kind word. She will be remembered for her love of the Lord, devotion to her son, Bobby and love for her family and neighbors.

A visitation will be held Saturday June 17, 2017 1pm - 3pm at the home of her niece, Lisa Hawkins Lynn, 113 West Church Street, Greer SC 29650. The service will be private.
