Nancy Laine (Fagile) Schreiber, known affectionately to those closest to her as Laine. Born on December 15, 1942, in Greenville South Carolina, Laine embarked on a wonderful life that would span over eight decades, coming to a peaceful close on April 22, 2024, in Landrum South Carolina.
The daughter of the late Mary Jordan Faglie and Pleas Challie Faglie, Laine was a sister, a wife, a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She shared a profound and loving partnership with her husband, Tobias Samuel Schreiber. Surviving are a sister, Mary Ann Faglie, and brother, Pleas Challie Faglie, Jr. (Nancy).
She is also survived by her children, Joy Elaine Hankins (David) Allen, Christopher Peter (Donna) Hankins, Christina Rosbecca (Rodney) Wilson, Marie Estelle (Jamie) Davis, Joshua Tobias (Ashton) Schreiber, and James Bradford (Angie) Schreiber. Her love also extended to her 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was a proud graduate of Evans High School’s Class of 1960. She committed her life to the Lord Jesus Christ as a child at Evans First Baptist Church in Evans, Georgia.
Laine’s artistic soul found expression in every aspect of her life. Laine was very creative and artistic. She loved painting, sewing, and gardening. Over the years she has cultivated many flower gardens, quilted and crocheted numerous family blankets, and painted pictures, gourds, and tote bags. As a talented seamstress, she quilted and crocheted numerous family blankets, each stitch a testament to her warmth and dedication to her family. Her family and friends received many gifts from her artistic ability and creativity.
In describing Laine, one would be remiss not to use words like loving, friendly, and creative. As we reflect on Laine’s life, we are reminded that our time here is not just measured in years, but in the beauty, we create, the love we share, and the lives we touch.
Today, as we bid farewell to Nancy Laine Schreiber, we celebrate a life that was truly a work of art. Her story does not end but continues in the hearts of those she loved, in the beauty she crafted, and in the lives she touched. Let us honor her memory by living our lives with the same passion and joy that she so effortlessly embodied.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at First Baptist North Spartanburg located at 8740 Asheville Hwy. Spartanburg, SC 29316.
