Born on February 24, 1947, in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, Nancy was the cherished daughter of the late Albert and Iomie Cape. Her journey through life was marked by an unwavering faith, a passion for service, and the joy she found in the company of her beloved family and friends.
A proud graduate of Ellenwoodside High School's class of 1965, Nancy furthered her education at Greenville Tech, where she honed the skills that would serve her well throughout her life. For over four decades, Nancy was a dedicated Mary Kay Consultant. She found immense joy in her work, helping countless women feel good about themselves and fostering a sense of community and empowerment.
Nancy's commitment to her faith was evident to all who knew her. She was a devoted member of Washington Baptist Church and an active participant in the Crusaders for Christ Sunday School Class. Her spiritual life was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.
The family was the heart of Nancy's world. She leaves behind her loving husband, Doug Powell, and her adoring children, Wendy (Van) Bennett, Jason Sparks, April Adair (Heath), and Jennifer Powell. Nancy's legacy continues through her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the lessons of love and kindness she instilled in them. She was a beloved sister to two sisters and four brothers, and a treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her parents and two brothers.
Nancy's interests extended beyond her professional and spiritual life. She was a woman who found great joy in spending time with her family, cherishing every moment and creating lasting memories. Her altruistic spirit shone brightly as she consistently sought ways to help others, whether through her church activities or in her endeavors.
Those who knew Nancy will remember her as a friendly soul, a wise counsel, and a person of deep faith. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a melody, and her advice a guiding light. Nancy's impact on her community and the lives she touched will be felt for generations to come.
