Nancy "Eleanor" Camp Brown

Nancy “Eleanor” Camp Brown, 88, beloved mother and grandmother left her earthly home to join her Heavenly Father, her family, and friends in heaven who passed before her just three days before her 89th birthday. On Thursday, September 23, 2021, tired but at peace, she lost a battle with COVID-19.

Born to Dock Earl and Agnes Margaret Murray Camp in Greenville County, South Carolina in the township of Chick Springs, she was a lifelong resident of the Upstate of South Carolina. In 1963, Eleanor married Major Robert “Glenn” Brown and in 1970 they moved to the Wade Hampton area in Greenville. It was there where she lived out a full and beautiful life in her beloved home where she lived until she was hospitalized.

Eleanor was predeceased by many loved ones including her husband Glenn (1978); her parents Dock (1969) and Agnes (1975); a beloved sister Lillie Mae Tullos (2009) and Paul (1999) her husband of San Antonio, Texas; an adored brother Norman Allen Camp (2018) of Simpsonville, South Carolina; and a dear brother-in-law Jeff Watson (1993) of Greer, South Carolina. She was also predeceased by a beloved aunt, Virginia Camp Finley of Greenville, South Carolina and her treasured grandmother Nancy Ross Camp of New Prospect, South Carolina.

She is survived by an adoring daughter Kelly Brown Roseberry and her husband Chris of Taylors, South Carolina; a treasured son Forrestt Brent Jones and his wife Dana also of Taylors; and her oldest daughter Lorraine Turner and husband Ron of Easley, South Carolina. Her grandchildren who lovingly called her “Meem” and for whom she truly lived her life are Robert Tyler Roseberry, Kelsey Diann Jones, Eva Svetlana Roseberry, Bennett Leif Jones, and JC Eskew, his wife Amy and his two children Haley Olivia and Jaxon. She is also survived by a beloved sister Evelyn Watson of Greer, South Carolina; her treasured baby brother Jack Camp and his wife Mary of Taylors, South Carolina; and a treasured sister-in-law Judy Camp of Simpsonville, South Carolina. She also lost three sisters in childhood. She had many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly. She was also predeceased by her dear childhood and lifelong friend Marcie Williams.

Eleanor attended Mountain View High School in Taylors, South Carolina and was a graduate of Greenville Technical College where she earned a degree in nursing. She was a nurse for years before she retired and especially enjoyed caring for the elderly alongside her nursing friends Sue, Linda, Helen, and Susan with whom she loved to laugh and remained lifelong friends.

Eleanor was a beautiful spirit and enjoyed talking with, visiting, and caring for others. She would always offer a tall glass of iced tea or lemonade for family who dropped by or her children’s friends who could be found working on car stereos in the driveway or were listening to music or watching the movies of the day. She especially loved Claudia, Susan, Ann, Mark, Nathan, Todd, James, Jason, Robin, and Chad. She enjoyed cooking, baking her famous chocolate cakes for those she loved, and watching birds and squirrels in her yard, especially the white squirrels that came to visit. She enjoyed her quiet neighborhood and loved to visit with her precious neighbors especially Shirley Phillips and Bentley, Debbie Peden, and Elizabeth Johnson.

Her children would like to express their gratitude and sincere appreciation for prayers during her illness and for those who called or visited remaining central in her life in her later years. You were all so important to her. Due to COVID a celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held later in the fall.
