Myles David Voyles, age 83 of Simpsonville, SC passed away on Christmas
day, December 25, 2020. To friends and family, he was affectionately
known as Dave.
A celebration of life and remembrance will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday,
January 15 at the M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery located in
Anderson, SC. Arrangements are by Westville Funeral Home and the South
Carolina Cremation Society of Greenville, SC.
Dave Voyles was born in Holly Springs, Georgia, on July 20, 1937, and was
the oldest child of Jewell and Ethelda Voyles. Dave married Martha
“Yvonne” Whitson on August 22, 1960, in St. Petersburg, Florida. The
couple happily celebrated their 60th anniversary this past August. Dave was
a veteran and served in the US Air Force for twenty-two years. In 1977, he
retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant, having served in Vietnam
and other duty stations based in the US, receiving the Air Force
Commendation Medal multiple times. After the Air Force, Dave worked for
Tyson Foods (Holly Farms) in North Wilkesboro, NC until he retired at age
60, when he and Yvonne moved to Simpsonville, SC. He was a member of
First Baptist Church Simpsonville and a devout Christian who supported the
church and mission work.
Dave is preceded in death by his father Jewell and mother Ethelda, along
with his younger brother Tommy Voyles.
Dave is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Yvonne Voyles, his son
Alex Voyles, daughter Brenda Edwards and her husband Greg,
grandchildren Kelly Dickson and Daniel Edwards and their spouses, plus 3
adorable great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his two sisters Fay
Doss and Brenda Foster, along with his brother Fred and their families.
The family requests that people wishing to offer a remembrance or
contribution donate to the Disabled Veterans organization of their choice.
The family of Dave also wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the members

and the staff at Hillcrest Hospital in Simpsonville, SC.
