Mitchell J Wilson, known to friends as "Mitch" and to his patients as "Mr Mitch", passed away on April 2, 2020, at the age of 66 after a long battle with liver cancer.
Mitch was a talented musician known for playing the 12-string guitar and his rendition of “Blackbird”. Professionally, he had a long career in film post production, but went back to school in his 40s to successfully enter the world of nursing. For over 20 years he worked in hospitals, primarily working in pediatric oncology including nearly a decade at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Mitch was recognized for spending “too much” time with his cancer patients, and more often than not visiting and bonding with other sick children who were never even assigned to him.
Mitch is survived by his wife of 44 years Charlotte, son Matthew, daughter Brianne, brother Jack, and two granddaughters, Korra and Saylor.
Due to the CDC restrictions concerning COVID-19, a memorial service will be held for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mitch Wilson to the St. Baldrick’s foundation, a charity committed to supporting the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.
