Greenville

Mildred "Mickey" Glazner Drew, a cherished soul known for her loving nature, thoughtful demeanor, and intelligent mind, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024, at the age of 93 in her hometown of Greenville, SC. Born on September 16, 1930, to the late Robert B. Glazner and Florence D. Glazner, Mickey was a beacon of light to all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

Mickey grew up in Greenville, where she attended local schools and graduated from high school, laying a strong foundation for her future endeavors. Her career as a sales representative at Monsanto showcased her exceptional interpersonal skills and unwavering work ethic. Mickey's professional life was marked by the same warmth and care she brought to every aspect of her life.

Beyond her professional achievements, Mickey was an avid reader, often found with a book in hand, delving into various genres and averaging 3-4 books a week. Her love for literature was just one of the many facets of her rich intellectual life. Mickey also possessed a creative spirit, which she expressed through her poetry, crafting verses that captured the essence of her experiences and the beauty of the world around her.

Mickey's commitment to her community was evident through her extensive volunteer work. She devoted her time and compassion to the Open Arms Hospice, providing comfort and support to those in their final stages of life. Her service continued with the AHBC AIDS Care Ministry, where she offered solace and care to individuals affected by the AIDS crisis. Even into her late 80s, Mickey remained an active member of the AHBC Offering Counting Committee, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to her faith and community.

Her family, who cherished her deeply, survives Mickey. She was the beloved aunt to Patricia C. Smith and Roy E. Caskey, Jr. Mickey was predeceased by her devoted husband, Raymond Drew, her parents, Robert B. Glazner and Florence D. Glazner, her brothers, Robert B. Glazner, Jr. and Larry Glazner, and her sister, Doris G. Caskey, and Laura G. Alexander. Each family member carries forward the love and wisdom she imparted.

Mickey's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact one person can have on the lives of many. Her gentle presence and insightful conversations will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her.

As we bid farewell to Mildred "Mickey" Glazner Drew, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of purpose, love, and generosity. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, and the stories of her compassion and intellect will be passed down through generations. Mickey's journey on this earth has ended, but her spirit remains a guiding light for all who were blessed to know her.
