We commemorate and celebrate the life of Mr. Mickey Lipai, whose journey in this earthly realm began on June 5, 1977, in the lush and vibrant island of Pohnpei, Micronesia, and culminated on August 23, 2024, in the gracious town of Greenville, South Carolina. Born of the union of the late Andrew and Merihpa Lipai, Mickey was the cherished brother of Masko, Yumiko, the late Yusako, Heldon, Bilden, Morgan, and the late Juleen. The Good Lord, in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to call our beloved Mickey home to that great reunion in the sky.
A man of profound faith and unyielding devotion, Mickey attended the Pohnpei Island Center School and furthered his education at the College of Micronesia. His pursuit of knowledge equipped him with the skills that saw him rise to become a revered Manager at Sushi Yama in Travelers Rest, after honing his craft as a Teppanyaki Chef in Greenville. Mickey poured his soul into his work, seasoning his endeavors with the spice of passion, and infused his culinary creations with an essence of love that could only come from a heart as generous as his.
Mickey was a man of laughter, the kind that resonated in the heart like a joyous hymn on a Sunday morn. His sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and bountiful generosity were the cornerstones of a life lived fully and selflessly. His integrity was unshakeable, akin to a rock amid the tempests of life, and he stood tall as an oak in the faith he held so dear.
To know Mickey was to know the warmth of his gentle nature and the boundless depth of his kindness. In his presence, one found comfort as soothing as a mother's embrace, and in his actions, the genuine, unfiltered sweetness of pure honey. As we reflect on his legacy, let us remember how his love embraced not just his kin, but reached out to all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He was a beacon of everything that is good and pure in this weary world, and his memory shall be as enduring as the stars that grace our Southern nights.
Though our hearts may ache with the parting of our dear Mickey, we are comforted by the promise of Isaiah: that those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. Let this be the conviction that buoys our spirits as we bid our earthly farewells, for Mickey's life was a testament to those very words.
Mickey Lipai, the man of God's very own gifting, leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished and celebrated in the tales we share, the meals we savor, and the kindness we extend to one another. He was a family-oriented man, a lighthouse to his siblings, and his love and generosity were as expansive as the heavens.
As we gather to celebrate this precious life, let us cling to those idyllic memories he so lovingly bestowed upon us. Let our hearts resonate with the echo of his laughter, the spirit of his adventures, and the generosity of his actions. We will hold Mickey's spirit close, cherishing the moments, the merry times, and in those, he will abide with us forevermore.
Mickey
You gave no one last farewell nor ever said goodbye. You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why. A million times we will miss you, a million times we will cry. In our hearts you hold a place no one else can ever fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone for part of us went with you the day God took you home. We will meet again someday in a better place. We thank God made you Mickey while you were here on earth.
