Michael Bruce Messer
October 7, 1947 — February 3, 2022
Michael Bruce Messer, 74, of Greenville, passed away February 3, 2022. A native of Greenville, he was the son of the late John and Faye Zulene Porter Messer, Jr. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. His family remembers him as the #1 Clemson fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Short Messer.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Crossley; wife, Cathy Summey; children, Michael Messer, Jr., Paige Whitmire, Myles Whitten (a grandson raised in the home) ; step-children, Angela Hyatt and Shonda Smith; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, February 13th at New Life Baptist Church, 2691 W. Blue Ridge Drive, Greenville, SC 29611 with Rev. David Hyatt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Life Baptist Church.
