It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Alvin McMakin, 39, of Greenville, SC. Michael was born in Greenville on September 17, 1979 and passed away peacefully May 10, 2019.
There is so much about Michael that you can never know just by reading this. Michael was such a special soul. He loved to brighten someone’s day and would be sure to do something funny to make them smile. He had a love and talent for art which he shared with his brothers. He loved cars and Japanese anime. Michael was very talented in the kitchen and enjoyed making meals for his friends and family. Michael made anyone feel they are the most special person just by the way he cared about them. He loved his family fully and fiercely. He loved big. He was protective. He was kind-hearted and always willing to listen and offer advice.
Michael loved music, from hip hop to country. He loved animals and his sweet dog Mally misses him very much. Michael lived life without abandon.
Surviving are his mother, Phyllis Owens, father, Alvin McMakin, brothers Joseph, Nick and Ray McMakin, and Andy Dickenson. He also leaves two sisters, Amber and Amanda Locke and his grandmother Joe Ann Culpepper. Predeceased by his grandfather Boyd D. Culpepper.
A service to honor Michael is Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Cremation Society of SC - Westville in Greenville. Visitation with the family will follow.
