Michael H. Losey, age 75, passed away peacefully at home in Spartanburg, SC, on October 28,
2022, due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease. Michael was born in Somerset, KY, to his
late parents Agatha Losey Johnson and Homer Losey, and he earned B.A and M.A. degrees in
accounting from the University of Kentucky (Go Cats!). He was an incorrigible jokester and an
avid card player, and he also loved tennis, having grown up playing with his brothers and father,
and on his Somerset High School tennis team.
Ever the dealmaker, his career spanned managing restaurant franchises, selling cars and real
estate, and financing businesses, taking him to Louisville, KY, Atlanta, GA, then Sarasota and
Naples, FL. Michael loved cars, boats, and planes, even obtaining his pilot’s license and flying
his family to many fun places.
Most especially Michael treasured his family. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Geoffrey
Losey. Michael is survived by his cherished and devoted wife of 42 years, Maria Losey, and his
children Ana Gray (Chris) of Shelby, NC, Joe Delgado (Tracy) of Atlanta, GA, and Heather
Losey (David Ehmann) of Lexington, MA. He is also survived by grandchildren Christopher,
Emily, Jack, Jenna, Caroline, Erin, and Tessie, as well as great-granddaughter Mary Clare,
along with brothers Douglas and Robert Losey, and countless other family and friends. A
