Greer, SC

Michael Hugh Davis, known affectionately as Mike to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at his home in Greer, SC, on November 27, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on October 6, 1947, Mike's life was characterized by his passion for living life to the fullest, for his love for those around him, and never one to shy away from pulling a prank.

Mike was a proud graduate of Greer High School and furthered his education at Greenville Tech, laying the foundation for a successful career. For over four decades, he was the respected owner and operator of Mike Davis Exterminating, Inc., where his dedication and work ethic were evident to all who knew him and was fondly known as the local "Bug Man".

A true patriot, Mike's service to his country was nothing short of heroic. He became a Marine in June 1967 and was assigned to Vietnam in October of the same year. His bravery in the line of duty was recognized with the Silver Star, among numerous other medals. In 1989, his valor was further acknowledged when he received the American Legion's Medal of Valor, a testament to his courage and commitment to his fellow servicemen and his country.

Mike's adventurous spirit and zest for life were legendary. His travels took him far and wide, both abroad and within the United States, always seeking new experiences and adventures. An avid aviator, he enjoyed the freedom of flying his airplane, exploring the world from a bird's eye view. His love for the sea was just as strong, with scuba diving offering him the chance to delve into the mysteries of the deep. On land, he was an enthusiastic car racer and a skilled pool player, always ready for a friendly challenge.

His mother, Ruth B. Davis, preceded him in death, but Mike's legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joy Davis, who stood by his side in every endeavor. His daughter and son-in-law, Michal and Brett Granich, will forever cherish the memories, life lessons, and his unwavering support. His stepson, Jeffrey Wood, and granddaughter, Tahlia Dozier, will miss his thoughtful guidance and loving presence.

As we bid farewell to Mike, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of purpose and joy. His story is one of triumph, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to family, friends, and country. Mike Davis's memory will be held in the highest regard, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

In honoring Mike's life, we reflect on the countless moments of joy he brought to us all. His legacy will endure through the love he shared and the lives he touched. We take comfort in knowing that Mike has found peace and that his journey was one of fulfillment and honor. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
