Michael Dawson

June 19, 1952 — December 18, 2020

Michael Dawson cycled off into the sunset on Friday, December 18, 2020, at his home in Taylors, SC. His spirit lives on through his daughter and son-in-law (Sonya and Ben), his mother (Genella), three sisters (Vanessa, Shelly, and Sharon), a blind dachshund dog (Charlie) and his dearest friends ("Big Jim", Maggie, Grant, and Trish).
An avid cyclist and runner, he finished the Assault on Mt. Mitchell numerous times and could often be found riding over Paris Mountain or along the Swamp Rabbit Trail. After a long hard ride, you could find him enjoying a craft beer on the patio at Barley’s with his good friend “Big Jim.”
He attended seminary school prior to serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. His computer engineering skills landed him a job at NASA, among other engineering firms over the years. Colleagues and friends remember him as a compassionate, kind-hearted man with a brilliant mind.
Since Mike moved to Greenville in the early 80s, he has been so proud and passionate about his Greenville community. He cared so much for his community and helping others. So in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Community Foundation of Greenville https://www.cfgreenville.org/ in memoriam to "Michael Eugene Dawson".
His favorite saying in life was you have to "Keep Pedaling". He did that to the very end and now he has made it to the finish line. His friends and family look forward to catching up with him again one day.
