Michael G. Cole, affectionately known as Mikey to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife by his side on December 22, 2023. Born on April 11, 1969, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Mikey was a beacon of intelligence, spirit, and love throughout his 54 years of life.
Mikey's early years in North Carolina laid the foundation for a life full of curiosity and adventure. He grew up in a loving household with his parents, Doug and June Cole, who predeceased him, and his sister, Ellen Cole, who continues to carry the light of their family's bond. Mikey's journey led him to an enduring love with his wife, Leslee Nicole Cole, and together they raised a family of spirited individuals: sons Gabe and Matt Cole, and CJ Ford, and daughter Jamey Ford. Each of them reflects a piece of Mikey's indomitable spirit.
Professionally, Mikey was a respected computer programmer, having earned an IT degree that propelled him into a successful career. He dedicated over a decade of his expertise to BMW, where his contributions were invaluable. Mikey's skills were also sought after by MetLife and US Foods, where he continued to solve complex problems with grace and precision.
Mikey's passions extended beyond the digital world. He was an avid enthusiast of Jeeps and rock crawling, a hobby that earned him many trophies and the respect of fellow off-road adventurers. His talent for metal fabricating was not just a skill but an art form, one that he approached with the same meticulous attention to detail that he did in his programming. Dirt bikes and skateboards were among his favorite pastimes, and he loved nothing more than the thrill of a ride, the wind in his face, and the sense of freedom that came with it.
Those who knew Mikey will remember him as a man who lived life to the fullest, who loved deeply, and who approached every challenge with a combination of intelligence and enthusiasm. His spirit and love have left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Mikey's life was a testament to the power of passion and dedication. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.
