Matthew "Matt" Semple, 87, of 4 Cantera Circle, passed away at the Cottages at Brushy Creek October 5th. Husband of the late Peggy Semple who passed April 14, 2006.
He was born in Hamilton, Scotland, son of the late James and Elizabeth Sharp Smith Semple. He was an airplane mechanic in the Royal Airforce and became a Master Tool and Die maker. After immigrating to the U.S. he became an Engineer by profession at GM.
Surviving are two daughters, Margaret Lain of Spartanburg, and Elizabeth Smith of Jefferson City, TN, two granddaughters, Heather Ragard and Jean Van Hyning, two great grandchildren Broedy and Alec Ragard, as well as Sisters, nephews and their families.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, October 13, 2015 at Cremation Society of South Carolina-Westville Funerals, 6010 White Horse Rd., Greenville. Private burial will be in Scotland at a later date.
