Matthew Gary Long III

Matthew Gary Long III, known to family and friends as "Gary," died on September 17th, 2019 in Summerfield, Florida. Gary was born in Washington, D.C. in 1961, He grew up primarily in Vienna, Virginia. He also resided in The United Kingdom and Taiwan during his early childhood. During high school he attended Flint Hill School, which he always referred to as "Flint Hill Prep" and graduated from Oakton High School in 1980. He spent a large part of his adult life working in the satellite TV business in Pickens, South Carolina.
Gary was predeceased in death by his father; Matthew P. Long and his son; Matthew Gary Long IV.
Gary leaves behind his wife; Jeanne Long, his mother; Eleanor Gardiner, his brothers; Charley Long and John T. Long, his daughters; Jessica Newton, Erica Long-Marsala, Emily Riddle and Sarah Long, his son; David Clark, and his grandchildren; Christian, Dylan, Katelyn, Eleanora and James.
His Memorial Service will be held on his birthday, October 19th, 2019. at The Cremation Society of SC- Westville Funerals Chapel, located at: 6010 White Horse Rd., Greenville, SC 29611 at 11:00 AM with a visitation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to NAMI.ORG (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
