Passed peacefully 5:24 AM on December 23, 2017 while in the care of ST. Francis Hospice
Mary was a former resident of Alamance County. She was born May 8,1924 to the late Eli Payne and Roxanne
Herron Payne who predecease her along with 10 siblings. Her husband was the late James C. Johnson from Fort Payne, Alabama. She is survived by her four children, Carole Thomas, Haw River, N.C. Ann Tanner, Reidsville, N.C. James Johnson, Jasper,Ga. Kae Hale, Greenville, S.C. Mary is also survived by
7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Mary was a quiet person who put actions to her few words. Mary had a deep faith and those who knew her respected and admired her. Mary will be missed.
Pursuant to her wishes and in lieu of flowers. Please do a “Good Deed” for someone in need of a favor or a loving helping hand in secret and God will reward you in heaven. She has requested no memorial service only the request mentioned.
