Mary Elizabeth Gruenhagen of passed away February 26, 2017 after a brief illness.
She was born in Davenport, Iowa, August 4, 1947, to George and Margaret “Midge” Valrath of Princeton, Iowa. She was the youngest of five children.
She was employed by MCI Communications, was a hairdresser, and cared for elderly people. She loved painting furniture and maintaining lovely flower gardens. She was a devout Christian all her life.
She married her dear friend Larry Gruenhagen on November 4, 1991, in Blue Springs MO. The lived in Davenport, IA, for many years before retiring to Greenville, S.C. in 2009
Mary is survived by Larry, two sons Bruce Harken and his wife Amy, of Massachusetts, and Brad Harkan and his wife Heather, of New Jersey, and four grandchildren: Erik, Claire, Emma, and Jack. She was pre-deceased by one grandson, Mark.
Her family shares her confidence that she has gone to be with her Lord. A memorial service will be held at a later time in Iowa.
