Mary Jane Collins, of Liberty, SC went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2024, with her family around her shy of her 79th Birthday on June 28th. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John Luther Collins, and only son David Lee Collins of Sebring FL, and parents Charles Manning Lance, Jr. and Thelma McConnell, her brother Lloyd Lance of Candler, NC, and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include twin daughters Karen C Boley and spouse Steven E Boley currently of Moncks Corner, SC, Sharon C Wilson and spouse James B Wilson of Pisgah Forest, NC. She is also survived by her sisters’ Dorothy Jean Pace and spouse Leon Pace of Hendersonville, NC, and Fay Cameron and husband Don of Mount Pleasant, SC as well as six granddaughters, three grandsons, seven great-grandchildren, one adopted, and two foster grandchildren.
Mary Jane was an extrovert who loved people and served many during her life. She held many different jobs that involved helping others which included driving a school bus, working in a school cafeteria, driving for Senior and Disabled Adults, working as a florist, providing meals, and caring for friends and family when needed. Any professional that she had dealings with would have to be at his/her best game because she would have many questions and love to learn. She loved art and pretty things but would work any dirty, difficult job at the drop of a hat if it meant helping someone. She maintained a yard full of beautiful flowerbeds and was very creative with unique solutions for everything. She missed her Church Family in NC after moving to SC but found Christian Friendships with her neighbors and friends in Liberty and Pickens. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced.
I think this “Prayer for Mary” from a friend says it best of all. A Prayer for Mary
Dear Lord, we pray for Mary. Memories of her smile and laugh are infectious. Mary’s mind is constantly creating and thinking. No matter if the subject is construction or cooking she has opinions and preferences. Mary loves to share her knowledge and love from the things she has
experienced over the years. This grandmother has a great love for family and ministry and uses the tools and talents that she has gained to make others’ lives better. Mary has a depth of soul and spirit from the challenges that she has overcome in her life. She uses these experiences
to help others get through their challenges. We pray that you receive her now into eternity with a warm divine embrace as we release her arms into yours. Amen
