Mary Jane Brock

Mary Jane Brock, affectionately known as MJ, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023, in Greenville, SC. Born on September 29, 1942, in Greenwood, SC, she was a beloved mother, wife, sister, and grandmother. MJ was a woman of many talents and interests, best described as loving, funny, and adventurous.

MJ was the daughter of the late George and Ruby Watkins. She was the youngest of five siblings, predeceased by her sisters Teresa Wincey, Jean McKinney, and Jackie Beacham, and survived by her brother, Danny Watkins. MJ was the cherished wife of John Moore and the loving mother of Jane Dunagan, Jay (Jackie) Pinson, and Chuck Pinson. She was also a proud grandmother to Nathan Craven, Cody Pinson, and Justin Pinson.

MJ attended high school in Greenwood, SC, where she first discovered her passion for design and sewing. This passion led her to own and operate MJ's Design and Alterations for 17 years. She was well-known in the community as a talented dress designer and seamstress, creating beautiful garments that were cherished by her clients. Her work was not just a profession, but a creative outlet that brought joy to both her and those who wore her designs.

Beyond her work, MJ had a variety of interests that showcased her adventurous spirit. She had a deep love for bonsai, nurturing and shaping these miniature trees with a patient and gentle hand. She also enjoyed attending woodcarving events with her husband, John, appreciating the skill and artistry involved in transforming a simple piece of wood into a work of art. MJ's adventurous spirit also led her to travel, with the mountains being her favorite destination. These trips brought her immense joy and provided her with beautiful memories that she loved to share with her family and friends.

MJ's life was characterized by her loving nature, her sense of humor, and her adventurous spirit. She was a pillar of strength and a source of joy for her family, friends, and the community.
