Simpsonville, SC

Mary Barrette, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on December 16, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on February 19, 1949, in Cleveland, OH, Mary's life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, a testament to her thoughtful nature, and a reflection of her loving spirit.

Mary's journey began as the cherished daughter of her Cleveland-based family and blossomed into a life shared with Ronald Barrette, her loving husband of 56 years. Together, they built a family founded on warmth and kindness. Mary's legacy is carried on by her devoted children, Dawn (Dave) Tolley and Jeff (Sarah) Barrette, and brother Bob Kaltenbach.  She was a proud and doting grandmother to Matthew (Sierra) Chase, Adam Chase, Drew Tolley, Ciera Tolley, Callaway (Sam) Callahan, and Summer Barrette, each of whom brought immense joy and purpose to her life.

Mary's siblings held a special place in her heart, with her brother Charlie Kaltenbach and fond memories of her late siblings, Wally (Nancy) Kaltenbach and Norita (Jerry) Solgos, who shared a lifetime of laughter and support.

Professionally, Mary's talents shone brightly as a skilled seamstress and as an administrative assistant, where her meticulous nature and warm demeanor made her a beloved colleague. Her association involvement showcased her commitment to the community and her passion for connecting with others.

Mary's interests were a reflection of her creative and nurturing soul. She found solace in shelling, where the rhythmic sounds of the ocean complemented her patient search for nature's treasures. Her hands were rarely still, as she was often immersed in crafts, leaving behind a legacy of handmade memories. Mary's love for playing cards was more than a pastime; it was a way for her to bond with friends and family, sharing stories and laughter over each dealt hand.

Above all, Mary's greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Each moment was an opportunity to impart wisdom, and nurture, and to express the boundless love she had for each of them. Her selfless nature ensured that those she loved felt valued and cherished.

Mary Barrette lived a life that exemplified the virtues of love, thoughtfulness, and selflessness. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will be treasured in the hearts of her family and friends. Mary's spirit will continue to guide and inspire, as her influence has been indelibly woven into the fabric of the lives she touched.
