Martha L Owens Capps

October 7, 1942 — April 9, 2023

Martha L. Owens Capps, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, gained her wings on Easter, Sunday, April 9th, 2023, at the age of 80. Martha was born on October 7th, 1942, in Cumberland, KY, to the late William David Owens and late Vertie "Gladys" Raleight Owens.

Martha married Carroll F. Capps and was blessed with fifty years of marriage until his passing. Together they raised three children, Loretta Russell, Joseph Capps, and Connie Phillips, who were the pride and joy of their lives. Martha was a devoted mother and grandmother to many. She always put her family first and made sure they were always taken care of.

Martha worked various jobs throughout her life, including as a textile worker, bus driver, and security guard. She always worked hard to provide for her family and never complained about the long hours or hard work.

Martha was a devoted Christian who lived her life with compassion and love for others. She was a kind and generous person who always put others before herself. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.

Martha is survived by her children Loretta Russell (Allen), Joseph Capps (Martha), Connie Phillips (Joey), and her grandchildren Nathan Russell, Andrea Maybin (Jeff), Mark Capps, Zach Brookshire, Glenn Phillips (Mary), and great-grandchildren Victoria Russell, Nathan Russell Jr., Nickolas Maybin, Dixie Brookshire, Mason Maybin, Caleb Brookshire, Destiny Brookshire, Connor Brookshire, Joey Phillips, Bristol Brookshire, and Harley Brookshire. She also leaves behind her brothers William H "Will" Owens (Kathy) and John Owens, and numerous other family members across the United States.

Martha enjoyed spending her free time reading, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, and playing games on her tablet. She loved spending time with her dogs and watching the birds and butterflies in her yard. She had a green thumb and took great pride in her flowers.

But most of all, Martha loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always there for them, and they knew they could count on her no matter what. Martha's legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will live on through her family and friends.

Martha is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Roger L. Owens and Vernon E. Owens, and son-in-law Allen. Although she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A burial will be held at a later date.
